Get to Know Us
Waste heat represents an enormous and largely untapped source of plentiful low-cost energy. MTPV was formed to unlock this clean energy resource, building upon the fundamental science of micron-gap thermophotovoltaics. We focus on meeting global energy demands more efficiently and effectively, fueled by clean energy technology. We are forward looking, developing technologies and solutions to support the well-being and prosperity of future generations.
Not Your Average Energy Company
As the team that discovered and demonstrated the MTPV effect, we are passionate about advancing the boundaries of clean energy solutions that build upon this breakthrough technology.

MTPV is the leading innovator in the near-field energy domain. Our intellectual property development continues to expand in support of our research, development, and product portfolio initiatives.
Our Priorities
MTPV’s 5 business priorities keep us focused as a team, aligned with our partners and customers, and in tune with the communities we work in.
- Be a leader in clean electric power generation using semiconductor materials to transform energy production.
- Help our clients reduce energy costs while improving their environmental footprint.
- Improve the communities in which we operate.
- Provide our employees respect and opportunity.
- Offer investors aggressive growth and fair return.
Environmental Impact x 3
By converting waste heat into electricity, MTPV not only creates clean power, we also directly reduce the temperature of industrial thermal emissions, a contributor to global warming and urban heat islands. Reducing that load from the grid reduces the grid’s CO2 and thermal emissions too.
Our History
MTPV was established by founder Bob DiMatteo to continue the research, development, and commercialization of his innovations in micron-gap thermophotovoltaics technology (MTPV). Bob founded the field of MTPV, an enhanced means of directly converting heat or sunlight into electricity, based on his pioneering work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
