Dr. Brian Hubert is Executive Vice President of Engineering for MTPV Power Corporation and is Co-Chairman of its Board of Advisors.
Brian brings with him more than 17 years of technology entrepreneurship and venturing experience with deep financial, product development, intellectual property, technology innovation and business experience in both small and large companies. Prior to leading MTPV’s engineering activities, Brian was EVP of Product and Business Development, and he has been instrumental in developing and launching the company’s EBLADE™ Power Platform product line for conversion of industrial-scale waste heat to electric power.
Prior to joining MTPV, Brian was a venture capital investor for Applied Ventures, the investment arm of Applied Materials. He pursued investment opportunities in the renewable energy, nanotechnology and semiconductor sectors. He was Board Observer for portfolio companies across the lithium-ion battery, fuel cell, test, laser, EDA software, and advanced materials spaces.
Prior to Applied Ventures, Brian was a member of the High‐tech and Health Care practices of international business consulting firm McKinsey & Co. where he provided the management of major corporations with leadership, judgment, and solutions to resolve their most difficult strategic and operational issues.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Brian co‐founded Kovio, Inc., a Kleiner Perkins-backed nanotechnology and RFID / NFC startup that developed embedded semiconductor products using printed silicon electronics for the age of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Brian has been awarded the Lemelson‐MIT Prize for excellence in invention and innovation. Articles and worldwide broadcast media about Brian have appeared in USA Today, New York Times, Associated Press, PR Newswire, Wired, and CNN.
Brian earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from MIT, and conducted his pioneering doctoral work in the field of nano-assembly at the MIT Media Lab.

Colin Lacey is Executive Vice President of Product.
Colin Lacey brings more than 25 years of experience to MTPV with product management, services creation and business development experience in both global Fortune 500 and emerging market companies.
Prior to joining MTPV Power Corporation, Colin was at Unisys Corp., a provider of mission critical enterprise technology solutions, where he most recently was Vice President of Product Management for professional and managed services. While at Unisys Colin also led product management and marketing for their Systems & Technology hardware business unit.
Prior to Unisys, Colin held Director of Product Management and Director of Market Strategy roles for HP’s global volume server business and was a core member of the integration team driving the Compaq / HP merger. He began his career in sales, business development and product marketing roles for Acer where he worked in their Taiwan headquarters, and subsequently in their European and Latin American divisions.
Colin is a published thought leader and widely quoted technology industry authority with press coverage in mainstream business media, technology journals, and industry publications. He earned B.Sc. and M.A. degrees in Management specializing in marketing from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.

Shannon Kovar is Executive Vice President of Operations.
Shannon brings to MTPV more than 20 years of experience in business operations, customer service, business planning, program management and process improvement.
Prior to joining MTPV, Shannon was Vice President of Operations for Dunn and Bradstreet’s Internet Solutions Division, where he was responsible for sales operations, customer support and training, business intelligence, contract/vendor management, strategic program management and facilities. He spent several years as director of business excellence for the systems and technology division at Unisys Corporation. Prior to Unisys, Shannon spent over 11 years at Compaq and Hewlett-Packard, where he held a number of senior management roles focused on customer satisfaction and business operations improvements, workforce transformation, and organization design decisions related to both the Compaq/Digital and Compaq/Hewlett-Packard mergers. Before transitioning into the technology industry, Shannon spent six years in the food industry with Tyson Foods Inc., where he held several production operations management functions within the organization.
Shannon holds a BS from Stephen F. Austin State University and an MS from Louisiana State University. He is an ASQ Certified Quality and Reliability Engineer, as well as a certified 6-Sigma Blackbelt. Shannon is also actively involved in several charitable organizations, including the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Organization, where he currently serves as chairman. Shannon resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife and daughter.

Robin is a highly accomplished certified Human Resources leader and accomplished executive with more than 20 years of diverse experience in a variety of industries, state government and the military. She has a consistent track record of creating critical programs, developing policies and procedures, and implementing systems and processes where none existed before, with particular expertise in mergers, acquisitions, and start-ups.
Robin has held roles of increasing responsibility at mobile telecommunications companies Sprint/Nextel and Boost Mobile, business information services vendor Dun & Bradstreet, PDI Software, and most recently Agility Recovery Solutions, a Denver, Colorado based business continuity services organization. She previously held HR roles in the Texas Department of Mental Health and the US Navy.
Robin is a sought-after expert in aligning programs and policies with critical business outcomes to accelerate success while developing a positive workplace culture. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics & Philosophy from the University of Maine and a B.A. in Human Resource Management from Baker University.

Dr. Mark Little is Chairman of MTPV Power Corp.
In his 37 year career at General Electric, Mark Little served in diverse senior leadership roles in operations, research, strategic planning, joint venture development, and product management. From 2005, as GE’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Senior Vice President/Director of GE Global Research, Mark reported to the CEO and developed fundamental technologies to help GE compete and grow in every one of its businesses: energy, oil & gas, aviation, healthcare, transportation, consumer products, and financial services. Mark’s vision is now to help other organizations apply the lessons he’s learned during his years of leadership at GE by working with business leaders and boards as an advisor and mentor.
A company officer for 21 years, Mark had a two-part senior leadership career at GE managing both major lines of business and global research. Mark became only the ninth director of GE Global Research in the company’s history. His team led transformative initiatives in software, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity, and delivered countless innovations that produced GE’s best product and service portfolio in years. Mark’s research team of over 3,600 people was from every major scientific and engineering discipline, working at nine research facilities in the USA, India, China, Germany, Brazil, and Israel. As CTO, he led some 50,000 technologists across GE. These experiences gave him a profound appreciation for diverse cultures and working styles.
Earlier in his career, as a business leader, he turned around a global business unit from $200MM annual loss to $4B annual profit—a unique achievement within GE. In doing so, he beat operating plans through every phase of the business cycle. In addition, Mark was responsible for the acquisition and integration of a bankrupt energy business, positioning it to become a $6B GE enterprise today.
Mark focuses on people and develops hard-working, motivated, self-reliant individuals who work well in teams. His high-performance teams, ranging from a dozen people to thousands, have won in their competitive marketplaces. He has a passion for building teams that “work to win.” Mark has shared this experitise by serving as a leader in the US Council of Competitiveness for 7 years. This non-profit organization brings business, labor, academic, and government leaders together to increase the United States’ economic competitiveness in the global marketplace.
Charitable work is central to Mark’s purpose. He and his wife founded and operate the Little Family Foundation, which provides a strong base for charitable pursuits. They are both active in the foundation which supports a wide variety of local community activities as well as international and veterans organizations.
Mark trained as a mechanical engineer, with a bachelor’s degree from Tufts, master’s from Northeastern, and Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of which Mark is a Trustee. Family life is at Mark’s core. He and his wife Terri have two adult children, with their first granddaughter having recently arrived. He is an avid book reader, a self-taught guitarist (rock, blues, jazz), a golfer, and is self-described as “a crazy Boston sports fan.”

Bob served as the Company’s CEO and Co-CEO from 2006-2015 and currently serves a a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of its Board of Advisors. Before joining MTPV, Bob served as the Program Manager and Technical Director, MTPV Power Sources at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. Prior to joining Draper Laboratory and while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bob pioneered the field of Micron-gap ThermalPhotoVoltaics. At MITRE Corp, Bob investigated new energy applications during his tenure and was awarded the American Helicopter Society Lichten Award for developing lightweight energy efficient composite materials while working for United Technologies Corp’s Sikorsky Aircraft. He also founded Econo Technologies, a $10M start-up company which became a leader in CSG Corp.’s Energy Crafted Homes Program for New England Electric Utilities.
Bob earned a bachelor degree in engineering and applied sciences from Harvard University, masters of science in both electrical engineering & computer science and technology and policy program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bob also received his master of business administration in innovation and global leadership at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan Fellows Program.

David Mather is Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
David Mather is currently the Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of MTPV. In addition to his role with MTPV David is also managing partner of Ensys Capital, LLC, a private investment company.
Before joining MTPV, David served as President of Hoover’s, Inc a D&B company focused on the growing internet information and media market segment. David joined Hoover’s after serving as Vice President and General Manager of Global Business Operations for the $1.4 billion global systems and technology division at Unisys.
Prior to Unisys, David was a Vice President with Hewlett Packard’s imaging and printing division with worldwide responsibility for their direct sales strategy and go-to-market model. His prior experience at Hewlett Packard included serving as Vice President of Americas Sales Operations, after serving as a member of the acquisition team during the Hewlett-Packard merger with Compaq Computer Corporation.
David joined Compaq Computer Corporation in September of 1997 and held a number of senior management positions within Compaq including Vice President of North America Operations, Director of North America Sales & Marketing, Director of Worldwide Channel Management Services, and Director of Channel and Field Services for North America. Prior to joining Compaq, David instituted and managed engineering and consulting service divisions at Providence, Rhode Island-based Unicom MicroAge. He has also founded and privately sold several startup companies, including Massachusetts-based NSI Networking Solutions Inc. and Impact Software Systems.
Along with a bachelor of science in computer science from Northeastern University in Boston, MA David brings 25 years of industry and business experience to MTPV.

Marc Poirier joined Spinnaker Capital in 2010 where he specializes in investment selection and management of private investments – direct investments in venture capital stage companies, as well as indirect investments in private equity funds, venture capital funds, and real estate funds.
Previously he was with @Venture, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Menlo Park and Boston, where he had been a General Partner since 1998. Prior to joining @Ventures, Marc was a co-founding employee of an online content company for internet service providers. There, he served as a Vice President in several operational capacities including finance and business development. He also Spent eight years with Ernst & Young in the Entrepreneurial Services Group and in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group where he was a Senior Manager.
Marc received a B.S. in Business Administration from Providence College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Marc has more than a decade of experience engaging with entrepreneurs and other investors on the boards of directors of early-stage technology companies. He is a former member of the North American Advisory Board of the Cleantech Group, an industry association supporting the development and deployment of clean technologies worldwide. He has also been active in the cleantech community, serving as a panelist for industry conferences and as a member of the selection committees for the Cleantech Forum and for the Industry Growth Forum hosted by the National Renewable Energy Lab.

Clifton Fonstad is the Vitesse Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a faculty member at MIT for more than 40 years, and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in semiconductor devices and technology. Professor Fonstad directs an active graduate student research group focused on monolithically integrating III-V functionality with silicon electronic circuits using their recess mounting with monolithic metallization (RM3) integration concept.
His research group is currently developing OptoPill Assembly, the newest RM3 process, and using it to create optoelectronic integrated circuits for a variety of applications, including optical clock and signal distribution on silicon integrated circuits, diffuse optical tomography on living tissue, and parallel signal processing in optically coupled neural network arrays. The group is also concerned with the molecular beam epitaxy growth of III-V heterostructures and their application in a variety of advanced electronic and optoelectronic devices, including p-i-n photodiodes, quantum- well laser diodes, and microscale thermophotovoltaic cells.
With his students and collaborators, Professor Fonstad has published over 150 articles in refereed technical journals; he is also the author of “Microelectronic Devices and Circuits,” an undergraduate text on semiconductor device physics, models, and applications.
Clifton received his B.Sc. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Electron Devices and the Lasers and Electro-Optics Societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and of the American Physical Society.

Shaffiq Jaffer is the Vice President of Corporate Science and Technology Projects for Total S.A. in North America, with the mission to find novel ideas and technologies across the research community: academia, government including defense research organizations and private research companies, that will lead to breakthroughs in energy (production, conservation, efficiency), materials (PV, Catalysts, biomaterials) and manufacturing processes.
He previously worked for Koch-Glitsch, Inc. and The Procter and Gamble Company (P&G). A major contribution at P&G was to help design novel processes to enable mass customization of consumer products.
Shaffiq holds Chemical Engineering degrees from the University of Alberta (B.Sc.) and McMaster University (Ph.D.). His primary area of study was experimental fluid dynamics and fluid mixing.

Over three decades he has served a technical consultant and as a global executive at a Fortune 100 company successfully delivering with positions in R&D, manufacturing, global sales and marketing, corporate venturing, and in acquisitions. He has delivered results in automotive, energy, renewables, chemical, semiconductor, medical devices, and membrane filtration markets.
Most recently, as business head for Saint-Gobain Engineered Ceramics, he turned around a set of mature businesses relying on materials innovations, customer co-development and galvanizing international teams at 11 locations. Rakesh is based in the greater Boston area but travels frequently worldwide.

Sam Kogan is CEO of GEN5 Group. Dr. Kogan has more than 30 years of extensive experience in research & development and innovation. Dr. Kogan has extensive experience in working with both the VC community and startup companies. He has been a strategic adviser to a number of VC and PE funds, including Northwater Capital, Launch Capital, GEN3 Capital, Lakebridge Capital, and Elliott Group. He is a co-founder, member of the Board of Directors and a CEO of Powermers Inc, an energy storage development company and member of the Board of Amastan Technology, a plasma technology company. Dr. Kogan also played an instrumental role in starting a number of companies including Airgain Inc.
Dr. Kogan is known as a thought leader and renowned speaker in the areas of Systematic Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Developemnt. Dr. Kogan frequently speaks at leading innovation conferences around the world, with an emphasis on the Globalization of R&D, Emerging Markets and Technologies, Management of R&D and Innovation, Sustainability, Clean Energy, and Energy Storage topics. Before co-founding Gen5 Group, he was a CEO of GEN3 Partners and a COO and co-founder of Pragmatic Vision International where in addition to overseeing the firm’s operations, he also helped develop client management strategies in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific Rim. Prior to Pragmatic Vision, he was the Director of Innovation Consulting Services at Invention Machine Corp. and held senior positions and led research programs within the R&D organizations at ICI and Plastpolymer Corp.
Dr. Kogan has a Ph.D. in material science from the Institute of Macromolecular Science, Leningrad, Russia and an M.S. cum laude in applied physics from Polytechnic University in Leningrad. José Borrego is Principal Engineer Emeritus.
José Borrego is a pioneer and luminary in the field of semiconductor energy devices, with prodigious contributions to our understanding of compound semiconductor cells for solar and thermophotovoltaic applications. José has been instrumental in developing MTPV’s photovoltaic cell capabilities through enhanced device modeling, electrical characterization, and advanced materials programs.
Before joining MTPV, José spent a decade consulting on a Rensselear Polytechnic Institute program sponsored by Lockheed-Martin in the area of thermophotovoltaic cells while co-authoring more than 10 papers and delivering several conference presentations.
Prior to that, José was a professor in the Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering Department of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for 40 years where he taught and developed undergraduate courses in Semiconductor Electronic Devices, Solid State Electronics, Microwaves, CAD of Microwave Circuits and graduate courses in Physics of Semiconductor Materials, Properties of Compound Semiconductors and Solid-State Microwave Devices. While at RPI he published over 130 papers in refereed journals and gave over 95 conference presentations related to his research in the areas of radiation effects in microwave devices, RF non-destructive testing, solar cells and thermophotovoltaic cells with emphasis on device physics and device and material characterization. He was granted the title of Professor Emeritus in 1994.
José received a bachelor of science in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios in Monterrey, Mexico. He was a Fulbright scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received masters and doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering.

Paul Greiff is Principal Engineer Emeritus.
Paul Greiff is an esteemed engineer and inventor with a career in semiconductor device development that spanned over 40 years. Paul’s work with MTPV started at the earliest stage of the company’s research and development when MTPV was still part of the Draper Laboratory. Paul chose to continue his work with MTPV as one of its most accomplished staff members.
Prior to joining MTPV Paul spent 25 years at Draper Laboratory where he was the lead engineer for the development of the CCD sensor for the Trident Missile Guidance System. He co-founded the MEMs (micro-electro-mechanical) program at Draper and was the co-recipient of the Draper Distinguished Performance Award for “Development of the Micromechanical Gyro and Accelerometer”.
Paul has published 18 peer-reviewed papers and has 46 patents to his credit. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering.

Before joining MTPV, Bob served as the Program Manager and Technical Director, MTPV Power Sources at The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. Prior to joining Draper Laboratory and while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bob pioneered the field of Micron-gap ThermalPhotoVoltaics. At MITRE Corp, Bob investigated new energy applications during his tenure and was awarded the American Helicopter Society Lichten Award for developing lightweight energy efficient composite materials while working for United Technologies Corp’s Sikorsky Aircraft. He also founded Econo Technologies, a $10M start-up company which became a leader in CSG Corp.’s Energy Crafted Homes Program for New England Electric Utilities.
Bob earned a bachelor degree in engineering and applied sciences from Harvard University, masters of science in both electrical engineering & computer science and technology and policy program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Bob also received his master of business administration in innovation and global leadership at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan Fellows Program.

Robert Rines was a founding member of MTPV and served as an advisor and board member until his passing in 2009.
Robert H. Rines achieved success in many different areas throughout his life. He was an accomplished international patent attorney, professor of law, prolific inventor, and musical composer.
Rines earned a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he developed his first contributions to the technology of high-resolution image-scanning radar. After serving as a Signal Corps radar officer in World War II, during the time when his radar inventions were secretly being developed, Rines went on to receive a law degree from Georgetown University while serving as a patent examiner in the United States Patent Office.
Holding over 80 patents, Rines’ inventions were basic to solid state Loran boat and air navigation, to high-definition sonar scanning used in submarine detection, and the successful location of the Titanic and the Bismarc. They are used in new medical instrumentation for noninvasive ultrasound imaging of internal organs. His patents are credited by the U.S. Army Signal Corps as the basis for nearly all the high-definition image-scanning radar used to provide early warning, weapons fire control and missile detection radars used in the Persian Gulf War.
As a practicing attorney, Rines represented scores of inventors to secure legal protection for their innovations and he commercialized technology through business formation and licensing in the U.S. and throughout the world. He entrepreneured start-up businesses, including several based on his own inventions. Rines founded the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Concord, New Hampshire, in 1973 and held the position of President until 1992 when he became Chairman of the Executive Board and Overseers. A professor at the Law Center and at MIT with classes on inventions, patents, and innovation, he was earlier the Gordon McKay lecturer on patent law at Harvard. He served on the technical advisory board of the U.S. Department of Commerce and also helped establish an invention-encouraging patent system in mainland China, and earlier in Taiwan, where he completed a Ph.D. thesis at Chiao Tung University in 1972.
Rines founded and was president of the Academy of Applied Science, a nonprofit organization that conducts the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposia Program to encourage and reward high school scientific research, as well as the New Hampshire Young Inventors Program for primary schools. In 1994, Rines was inducted into the U.S. National Inventors Hall of Fame in recognition of his high-resolution image-scanning radar and sonar inventions, as well as the U.S. Army Signal Corps Wall of Fame. In 1995, the Robert H. Rines building was dedicated at the Franklin Pierce Law Center and in 1997, M.I.T. dedicated a distance-learning center in his name.
