The Foundation For Global Construction
With low cost raw materials widely available, cement is typically manufactured to meet local demands. Over 2,000 plants around the world produce cement – the most widely used building material in the world.
Cement is produced in massive rotary kilns. These kilns are very energy intensive, responsible for almost three quarters of total energy consumed in the cement production process. Of all manufacturing industries, cement production is the most energy-intensive versus value, consuming roughly 10 times more energy than other manufacturing industries.
In The Process Flow
Process heat is accessible at two stages in the cement production process, at the flue where kiln heat is exhausted after being used to pre-heat and heat the raw materials, and at the kiln itself.
MTPV’s EBLADE Power Platform provides a low complexity solution to waste heat recovery in the cement industry.
- Sealed, solid state design results in high uptime for continuous operations in high contaminant environments
- Small form factor means easy retrofits into existing production process infrastructure with minimal interruption
- Temperature ranges ideal for 2nd generation MTPV technology
Environmental Impact
Cement plants are located in close proximity to regions with significant construction activity, with many in developing economies experiencing rapid growth. Replacing grid electric power, often from coal-fired power plants, with 100% clean electricity from waste heat while reducing the temperature of thermal emissions can contribute to both the economic and ecological health of the community.
